Clockwork Angel

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) - Cassandra Clare

Blurb: In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organisation of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them...

My Review:

I loved this book and the series so much! Seriously, it's one of the best series done by Cassandra Clare. I really enjoyed The Mortal Instruments but some aspects of that series annoyed me but I enjoyed everything about this series. So I'm really happy she wrote this! Woohoo! :D

So we are introduced to Tessa, who is kidnapped by the "Dark Sisters" and then she is rescued by the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. So what makes her so special? Well, she has a power that no one really knows about. That was the moment I fell in love with this series and knew that I had to buy every single Cassandra Clare book there was!

Let's talk about Will and Jem. ahahah I LOVE them so much. They work so well together and I think Tessa is a great addition to their friendship. Will is such a jerk, but ugh, it works so well. Jem is so sweet but he is sick, so way to go Cassandra Clare for making me want to protect him from everything. Yes, Will does treat women badly and I don't support it but it's so well written? It's the classic "guy is mean to the girl he likes" but Jem is not like that so there is no excuse Will!

Jessamine is a character I don't like. She is horrible and she is stuck up and I don't particularly like people like that. Just when I start to understand her she goes and does something horrible and I'm back to square one.

So congratulations to Cassandra Clare for writing a character that I don't like.

So back to the other characters. Charlotte runs the institute and is basically the badass mum around there.

Sophie is the servant with a tragic backstory! She needs all the love she can get. Basically what I'm trying to say is that everyone in this series is really interesting and no one is boring.

Okay, last character. Nathaniel! Tessa's brother. I won't say much because you know.. spoilers :) But ugh... why... he doesn't appear till the last 25% but he has such a huge impact!

One thing I love about this book and the series is that when you ask questions, the answer is there or it's impossible to find. However, when one or several questions are answered another twenty questions appear. This is what makes the series amazing to me.

Basically, I love this book, the plot, the characters and how everything fits together. I seriously couldn't stop reading this book and read the entire series in under 3 days.
