Eating healthy while doing Exams
So how many of us here decide to binge eat fast food and quick food during exam season? I know I did! I'm not going to lie, it is hard finding time to prepare a healthy meal during exam season and it is a lot easier to order food!
So eating healthy food isn't very high on our list of things to do, so we forget about it and focus on studying for exams. You may have noticed that eating McDonalds actual makes you tired and sleepy. Whereas when you eat something healthy, your energy goes up and it can also boost your motivation. So here are some tips that I have picked up during exam season!
NEVER EVER skip a meal :D I'm not joking or trying to be cliche here! In order to remain on track when we study, we need to make sure that we give our brain all the energy we can get. This means that we should eat a small meal when we wake up, some lunch and dinner along with some snacks in between. Eating throughout the day will keep you energised. On the other hand, make sure you eat something light during this time because you don't want to go to study while you are stuffed!
So possible meals include:
A chicken wrap.
Baked beans on toast
Baked potato
A bowl of cereal
Fruit bowl
Egg omelette
Pasta
So how do we cut time when preparing these meals. Well, you can prepare your meals in advance. If you were cooking chicken, cook an extra 3 and put them in the fridge so they are ready to eat for the next few days. That way if you prepare your meals like this you will save time and energy in the future.
Another way to serve them is to buy in advance. Instead of going out every few days to the shops to buy fresh vegetables, you can buy the packet of frozen vegetables. They have the same amount of nutrients and are good for you, while also saving time!
Being healthy during exam season doesn't just mean food, it also means drinking well. So say hello to water! It will be your best friend! If you don't drink a lot of fluids then you can feel tired and run down, therefore drinking up to 8 big glasses today will make you feel better. My advice to you would be to stop drinking a lot coffee for the caffeine because it could actually make things worse. I have found that drinking more coffee actual leads to needing the toilet more often, therefore making you less dehydrated. You can have a cup of coffee a day but any more than that may cause problems like losing your focus and concentration.
Being healthy during exam season may also require you to take a walk every now and then! I'm not joking and I've said it plenty of times, going for a walk around your area/house will do you no harm. Walking or doing some form of exercise will allow the brain to relax and take in the information but it will also keep you motivated!
So those are my simple tips on staying healthy during exam season. Good luck to everyone doing their exams and I hope everything goes well!
