Insurgent
Insurgent (Divergent #2) - Veronica Roth
Blurb: One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

My Review:
So I took my time getting to this book because 1) I wanted to read other books 2) I also wanted to take in the events of the last book, Divergent. It was a pretty amazing book in terms of action and character development. So I was a tad bit disappointed with this book.
I didn't love the main characters as much as the first book. Tris and Tobias were too focused on their relationship and not trusting each other.... It got annoying after a while. Tobias was condescending to Tris. I know Tris is dealing with her grief, but she did sort of act like a child? Maybe its just me, but some of her acts seemed weird and just out of the norm. However, she was dealing with the grief of her parents and Will, so what do I know? On the other hand, it was still no excuse for the way Four was acting. Condescending and down right rude to her and everyone else. He was rude to Tris and didn't really understand what she was going through. He also wanted everything from Tris and he didn't give anything back to Tris. So these two characters were completely different to the interesting and wonderful characters we were introduced to in Divergent. Their relationship was interesting and provided some development to the story in Divergent but in this book, it was more of an annoyance.
"Cruelty does not make a person dishonest, the same way bravery does not make a person kind"
Enough about relationships! aha ha ha! So, did anything interesting really happen? There was a lot of talking and running away, but nothing really else. I did enjoy that we got to see the other factions. It was interesting seeing Amity and how they work and also how Candor work. Wouldn't it like be easier if we all just worked together and had a truth serum? We saw the good and bad sides of Erudite and it was interesting. Don't judge a faction because of one's person action... Unless your Caleb, then please go away. I told you I didn't like him and trust him. It was obvious when he disappeared that something like that was going to happen. There was just something about him I didn't like... and he was just annoying!
""Insurgent," he says. "Noun. A person who acts in opposition to the established authority, who is not necessarily regarded as a belligerent"
Also, that ending was also a tad bit obvious. Now I don't like Evelyn because ugh.. she sort of has a controlling and manipulative personality that just doesn't suit me. So I do sort of see why she and Marcus were together in the first place if you know what I mean. She left for her own selfishness and all of a sudden Four takes her back. I know you can forgive and forget, but it just seemed really fishy and I suppose I was right in a way.
So overall, it was an okay book but it could've been a lot better in terms of characters and action. So that's pretty much the main reasons why its a 3 star. I hope Allegiant is better and wraps the story up well.
