August Wrap Up
This month has consisted of coming back from the UK and then straight off to Singapore for a week!
We stayed in Sentosa when we travelled to Singapore. So we were about a 5 minutes bus drive away from everything! We went to universal studies, Sentosa Resort and did everything else we could in a span of 4 full days there! Hopefully I'll get the Youtube videos of my travel up soon on my Youtube channel. YAY more videos!! :D
Alright, now I was on holiday for the first and second week of August, so I didn't get much reading done then. However, I managed to read some books on the plane and the last two weeks of August. My Fitness Life:
So, ever since I came back from my holiday travels I've been feeling down about my health and weight. Instead of just sitting around a feeling sorry for myself I decided to do something about it. On August 16th I jumped in the deep end with healthy eating and daily exercise. Now, I used to exercise everyday at the start of the year, but then I stopped because I couldn't find the time to do it during exams and holidays. The first day I started exercising...it was painful! It's amazing how you can be as fit as a fiddle one month but then with bad eating and no exercise for a few months you are back to square one.
So in order to motivate myself a bit more I set myself some goals.. but I also decided to get a fitbit. Now I love my Swatch watch so it was almost heartbreaking to get rid of that for a fitbit but I was determined to use it to its full potential.
And I have say.. I've been using it for 2 weeks and its pretty amazing. It was definitely worth the money. I got the Charge 2 gunmetal series, so here is what it has to offer.
I wanted a fitbit that would also track my sleep and all day activity, so this was the one for me. I also took the quiz they offer and this was the recommended one! Click the picture if you want to learn more about the Charge 2.
Along with the actual fitbit, there is also an app! I've been using the app religiously. It. is. amazing. I don't think you understand how much it has helped me keep up with my healthy eating and daily activity. It lets me know how many calories everything is, along with the macro-nutrients. So I put in my breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and lets me know how many calories it is and what percentage of carbs, protein and fat I had.
Along with the Fitbit, I also decided to start doing some Yoga. I've never done Yoga before but everyone I know who has, has enjoyed it and told me that it is amazing for their body and mind.
So to start me off I decided to stalk Youtube for the best Yoga videos and that is when I found the channel Yoga with Adriene! I spent about 4 hours just scrolling through her videos and watching them. I also spent time scrolling through her website to get to know her better. I landed on the 30 Days of Yoga playlist, so I watched a few of them and decided that I would start my yoga journey here. Watch the video down below to find out more about the series.
So far it has been a wonderful experience but it has also made me realize how bad my balance is. Apart from that, yoga is really relaxing and definitely stretches and moves the muscles. Looking forward to continuing this. Will put together a post about my journey later on.
Now, what am I doing in terms of working out? Well that is sort of all over the place at the moment.
I am currently alternating because some Jillian Michael's workout videos, Zumba, Dance Cardio and strength and cardio training. I've decided not to go to a gym yet because 1} I'm still not confident enough to workout in front of other people again! 2} I need to up my fitness level before I get back to the gym. 3} It's also expensive AF getting a membership.
I'm spending roughly about 2 hours a day doing exercise {includes yoga} and it has been an amazing experience. Painful but worth it. I feel 10x better about myself and I'm enjoying it!
Well I think I have rambled on enough in this post! That is basically a wrap up of what I've been up to this month! Have a wonderful September and good luck to everyone who is going back to school soon!
