June Wrap Up

It has really been a big month in terms of life updates but I did get a lot of reading done. This is the first month this year that I’ve read this many books. Seriously, I have been in such a bad reading slump that I didn’t even want to look at a book. Okay, well that might of been an exaggeration but I just didn’t read for months.
Anyway, I managed to finish quite a lot of different books this month. I’ll write all about them down below with some mini-reviews.
Other than that, my ‘Instagram’ life hasn’t been pleasant. I know we aren’t supposed to be focused on follower account but when you work so hard and nothing pays off, it starts to get to you. However, the Instagram algorithm is absolutely terrible and it doesn’t favour the people who aren’t paying for ads. Honestly, it sucks and it doesn’t really motivate you to post and interact with everyone. I’m on and off with my posting but I always interact with my followers and my friends. When I post, it’s because I want to and I take photos of things I want to take. However, my likes have gone down by 200 and I cannot seem to get past 100 and my followers have gone done by 300 in the past month. It’s bad in terms of interaction. Anyway, I’ll still be posting and interacting with everyone but I think Instagram needs to rethink their algorithm so it benefits everyone.
Okay, so now onto the books!

So what books did I actually read?
Novels. Air Awakens - Elise Kova Renegades - Marissa Meyer The Blood Singer - Patrick McNulty Warcross - Marie Lu The Cruel Prince - Holly Black The language of Thorns - Leigh Bardugo
Graphic Novels. Sheets - Brenna Thummler Mae - Gene Ha Skin and Earth - Lights
What books did I start but didn’t finish in June?
A Torch Against the Night - Sabaa Tahir
Okay, so I read all of those books in the last 2 weeks of June because I was still in a bad reading slump at the start. I wanted to read a lot more but this is what I read so I’m still really happy. I was also trying to get through my ARC list so I could get my percentage up. The majority of the arcs that I read were Graphic Novels. So if you are interested than the list down below are books from NetGalley.
Sheets Mae Skin and Earth The Blood Singer
I also finally managed to get my library card up and running at the start of the month so I managed to get some ebooks online through Libby (Overdrive). I would definitely suggest getting that if you are interested in ebooks and want to get access to books.
I have also tasked myself with writing reviews for all the books I read. I know this sounds fake but I’ve really been trying to get some mini-reviews/full reviews out for each book I’ve read so far. This is so I can record why I like/don't like the books. It’s also so I can get into the habit of reviewing books and letting people know what I think. I’ll stay away from writing ‘bad’ reviews at the moment because I have a massive list of good books to get through and with my TBR growing every day it's going to be one heck of a mission.

So here are a few reviews for the books I read this month.
The full review of the book will have their separate post so if you want to read them then scroll down to the recommended and they should be there. If not then check out the "books" tab! Happy reading.

Air Awakens
4/5 stars
I admit, this book is very YA cliché and it has all the factors.. plain girl meets bad boy prince and insta love happens. There is also a war/fight going on in the background and they can’t be together. Oh, and there is also another boy in the picture. HOWEVER, the girl didn’t love him back. That, my friends, is usually a love triangle, however, in my opinion, I don’t think it was. A love triangle to me when the girl has feelings for both of the guys... However, Vhalla didn’t feel anything but friendship towards Sareem. So that is why I don’t think it is a love triangle. However, there was insta love between Vhalla and Aldrik but honestly, I like Aldrik so I don’t mind ahahaha. (Basically, all the males in the book are interested in Vhalla, but she doesn’t have any feelings towards all of them.. only one.)
The Blood Singer
4/5 stars
I read this book in one sitting and I couldn't put it down. I loved Haden's characters and I was rooting for him the entire time. The supernatural kept me on the edge until the very last page and I thought it played out wonderfully. However, I'm was the edge of uncertainty with the time jumps but I suppose it's all part of how the story plays in the end. I would definitely recommend this to people who want a really good supernatural and thriller read.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Cruel Prince
4/5 stars
**MILD SPOILERS
I absolutely adored this book and the characters. This book is filled with Fae from head to toe! I thought it would be pretty sparse and maybe a tad bit undeveloped but oh my... I was thrown into the wild!
There are SO many villains in this book and it makes you question who is the good guy? Like seriously, is there even a good guy in this book?
Jude is the main character and she has a twin sister, Taryn. She also has an older sister called Vivi who likes to spend her time with her girlfriend in the human world. Long story short, Jude and Taryn were stolen away from the Human world by their “father” Madoc. The pair of them were bullied because the fae sees them as people less than them. The Fae despise humans 🤷🏻♀️
Jude pretty much dislikes them all.. but she despises one particular boy... Cardan. Who also happens to be the youngest prince. Cardan and his gang all pick on Jude because she is human. This all leads to Jude starting a mini “war”! This leads to Jude getting noticed by Prince Dain and she then joins the Court of Shadows. I loved the dynamics between the court of shadows squad. Can I have a friend like Ghost? Seriously!
Also, THAT ENDING! I really wasn’t expecting it. I loved the way it played out. And that epilogue just killed me. I need the next book NOW!
Okay, I think I said too much about the book! Overall, I loved the plot, the characters and the world building. Would definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to read about fae politics and budding relationships!
I’ll hopefully have reviews for the rest of the books up and published by the end of the month. (Except the ARCs because I have to have those in before the pub date) So how many books have you guys read and reviewed this month?
Other than my reading boost and Instagram struggles this month. I’ll also be travelling to the UK on the 4th of July. I know it’s not technically June but it is close enough. So this post may be going in out later and I could be writing this on the plane. (EDIT: Yepp, I finished the draft on the plane and now I’m writing and editing a few other bits :D)
I’ll be in the UK for around 5 weeks so I’ll have plenty of time to get around and travel to some bookstores. I’m not saying I’ll come back with a lot of books this time because I’m low-key trying to not buy books because I don’t have space for another bookshelf. I will, however, buy some special edition books if they have them in stock. I’m also on the lookout for some pins so I’ll hopefully be buying some of them.
I think I will leave this wrap up here, I haven’t done much this month and I spent the last part of it packing for the UK. Next month may be more eventful and hopefully, I’ll have something more interesting to write about.
I shall see you guys in the next blog post!
